Easy Camping Meals For The Family – Make Meals Ahead Of Time

Easy camping meals for the family are something most of us are always interested in learning about. One of the easiest ways to plan meals for a camping trip, is to make them up ahead of time, so they’re all ready to go when it comes time to eat. While I don’t like to spend a lot of time preparing meals while I’m camping, beans and dogs can get a little old.

Making meals ahead of time can relieve a lot of stress when it comes to meal time. If you have kids that you’re taking with you, get them to help out making the meals. That way it gets them excited for the upcoming trip, and they know what the meal plans are.

Below I’ll feature a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert that are easy camping meals for the family that you can pre-make and have ready to go.

Overnight Oats

If you haven’t heard of overnight oats, you probably don’t have kids running around every morning wondering what you’re cooking them for breakfast. Oh, by the way, pack my lunch, get me dressed, and out the door so you’re not late. Overnight oats are awesome, because you can make 2-3 servings of 2-3 recipes, all at once so you have a weeks worth of breakfast all done. There are a ton of overnight oat recipes out there on the internet, but this one is probably one of my favorites.

Most of the time, overnight oats are made in glass mason jars (I prefer the wide mouth, so it’s easier to use a bigger spoon) but if you don’t like bringing glass on your camping trips, there are also plastic mason jars that serve the same purpose.

After breakfast you go off on your morning adventure. Whether you’re going for a hike in the woods, a bike ride around the campground, or a morning of fishing on the lake, when you get back for lunch, you’re ready to eat. You don’t want to deal with pulling all kinds of stuff out of the fridge or cooler to assemble some lame deli sandwiches.

Cooking Divine gives us a great recipe for what is basically a gourmet hot pocket. These things are delicious and are super easy to make at home, then reheat on the campfire, or on the grill.

Campfire S’mores In A Cone

S’mores are like an American pastime when it comes to campfires. But when it comes time to make them, do you dread trying to find that semi-clean stick, that is long enough and strong enough to hold your marshmallows? Are you constantly burning your marshmallows?

Make these delicious s’mores at home before you leave, then you can just place them over the fire, let them melt, and enjoy!

  1. I agree its best to prepare the meals ahead of time. You want to be able to enjoy camping, not the hassle of rushing and preparing food. And you’re suggested meals are wonderful! I especially like the puff pastry pocket and the Campfire S’mores In A Cone. I’m not going camping but will try to make them.
